Excelr8 Motorsport have announced Senna Proctor as their first driver ahead of the 2020 BTCC season, as Proctor makes the move from Team BMR to pilot the new Hyundai i30 Fastback N Performance.
Proctor, who made his BTCC debut in 2017 has a race win and two other podium finishes to his name in his-three year BTCC career, and the 21-year old finished the 2019 season 20th in the driver’s standings. He claimed the Jack Sears Trophy in 2017.
Following their formation in 2009, Excelr8 Motorsport have won 22 titles in a variety of motorsport disciplines, and the team made their BTCC debut in 2019 with the MG 6 GT. Excelr8 finished the 2019 season 10th in the independent team’s championship, and have spent the winter preparing their new Hyundai i30 Fastback N Performance for its BTCC debut.
Proctor was delighted to sign for Excelr8 and was eager to return to a front-wheel-drive car, where he has tasted previous success.
“When Excelr8 contacted me back in September about the possibility of leading a new car development for them I have to say I was honoured,” Proctor said. “Having met the team at Excelr8 it was clear that they share the same ambitions as me of one day lifting the BTCC crown and with my past experience of FWD we can grow together and make this become a reality over the next few seasons.
But it’s one step at a time and we are under no illusion that there will be a lot of hard work ahead for 2020, it will be as many top 10 finishes and possibly podiums to get the ball rolling.
I am heading into my fourth season in the BTCC and along with the expertise of Excelr8 Motorsport I think we could be a force to be reckoned with in 2020 and beyond.”
Excelr8 founder and team owner Justina Williams was also excited to announce Proctor’s arrival.
“WOW, we are delighted to have attracted Senna to our team, he is proven in BTCC and will now help lead our new Hyundai i30 development. This will ensure that we continue on our journey towards the sharp end of the BTCC grid and in the longer term to be challenging for BTCC titles together.”
Senna Proctor will make his debut for Excelr8 Motorsport at the first round of the 2020 BTCC season at Donington Park on 28th/29th March 2020.
