Jake Hill will return to AmD Tuning for the 2020 BTCC campaign, but this time behind the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R.
Hill enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2019 in a BTCC campaign which included a maiden race victory at Knockhill and a fourth-place finish in the Independent driver’s standings and 15th place overall in the driver’s championship. The 25-year old will move from an AmD-run Trade Price Cars Racing Audi S3 in which he drove to the AmD Civic Type R FK2, a car which was a race winner in the hands of Rory Butcher and Sam Tordoff.
Hill’s switch to the Civic comes as AmD Tuning look to defend both the Independent driver’s and team’s titles in 2019 and as he looks to build upon his most successful year to date.
Speaking about his move, Hill said,
“I had a fantastic year with Trade Price Cars Racing, and I am hugely grateful to the whole team and their partners for their support and the opportunity to race with them.
For 2020 it’s a different challenge and one I am hugely excited about. AmD Tuning was one of the success stories of last season and I know their whole team is hugely motivated to build on that into next season. Like the team, I now know what it takes to win. The challenge for 2020 is to continue that momentum and take it up another gear, claiming more points, podiums and hopefully more wins to establish myself as a regular at the right end of the grid.
AmD Tuning boss Shaun Hollamby was delighted to see Hill make the move to the Honda Civic for 2020.
“Seeing his successes in 2019 up close, we feel he is now in an ideal position to regularly challenge at the front. We’re all excited to see what we can achieve. The 2019 season was incredible for us. We know we have the right people, the right equipment and in Jake one of the most promising drivers on the grid. We can’t wait to get started and see what can be achieved in 2020.”
Jake Hill will contest his first race in the AmD Tuning Honda Civic at Donington Park on March 29th 2020.
