Jack Goff will return to Team HARD for the 2020 season after putting pen to paper on a new deal with the team. Goff, who’s 2019 drive was only secured at the last minute joined Team HARD as a late replacement for Mike Bushell, becomes the team’s first driver to sign on for 2020.
Goff endured a tough 2019 season in the Volkswagen CC but ended the campaign strongly with a fine victory at Silverstone to secure 21st place in the overall driver’s standings. He finished the season on 40 points despite not starting four races, and was the top points-scorer out of the four Team HARD drivers.
Speaking to the official Team HARD website, Goff expressed his thanks to team boss Tony Gilham for the opportunity to drive in 2019 and was already looking forward to laying some strong foundations for 2020.
Goff said “It’s a pleasure to re-sign for Team HARD. Racing, we made some good progress across the year with limited testing opportunities and with the testing plan we have in place, I am confident of making big strides with the car and the team for the 2020 season.”
Goff also touched upon the victory at Silverstone, which would be Team HARD’s first in the BTCC. ” I’m delighted to be able to repay the team with their first BTCC victory at Silverstone which was the biggest highlight of the year. I am now looking forward to getting started again with the lads at HQ and my engineer Adam to make sure we hit the ground running at the start of the season.”
Team HARD principal Tony Gilham also recognised Goff’s fantastic win at Silverstone and was pleased to re-sign the 28-year old. “It’s great to have Jack back for another season with the team and the Volkswagen CC. 2019 was a whirlwind for Jack after securing the drive just two days before media day, but he was on the pace right from the get-go and spent the 2019 season as a testing year after missing the entire winter. Despite this, he still managed to pick up the teams first overall win in one of the most exciting BTCC races I’ve seen for a while, a moment this team will never forget.”
Goff becomes Team HARD’s first driver for the 2020 campaign and will undertake a winter testing program before the BTCC’s season opener at Donington Park in April. He will be looking to add to a tally which includes five BTCC race victories and 15 other podium finishes.
