2017 series champion and Team BMR Subaru driver Ash Sutton has completed a day of testing behind the wheel of Laser Tool Racing’s new Infiniti Q50.
Sutton was called in to provide additional thoughts and feedback on the new Q50, which returned to the BTCC grid at Snetterton. Laser Tools Racing began the BTCC campaign running Aiden Moffat in a Mercedes-Benz A-Class before bringing a heavily upgraded Infiniti Q50 back to the series for the first time since 2015.
In its six races since it’s reintroduction, the Q50 has registered a best finish of 17th in race one at Snetterton.
Post-test Sutton told the BTCC website “I was impressed with the Infiniti – there is certainly lots of potential in the car. I think the guys wanted a benchmark and I was keen to try help.”
With his extensive rear-wheel-drive experience, Sutton’s feedback will prove vital as the team aim to develop the Q50 into a race-winning car for the 2020 campaign.
Sutton continues “The ingredients are in the car to make it a force, and it is just a question of unlocking the speed. They will certainly make progress over the latter part of the year.”
The BTCC returns on the weekend of the 14th/15th September at Knockhill circuit in Scotland.
