New DTM outfit R-Motorsport will ask for permission to continue their test program on the Aston Martin Vantage DTM during the 2019 season.
Making their DTM debut in 2019, R-Motorsport will field four Aston Martin
Initially planning to run the Aston Martin Vantage at select meetings this year, R-Motorsport’s development of the cars has been acceralated by BMW’s failure to find a customer team to run two of their cars in 2019.
The team rushed to complete a car for the official DTM test at Jerez in early March and has just one test left at Estoril between 27th-29th March before the Class One homologation period is frozen from 1st April. The DTM will test again between April 15th-18th at the Lausitzring, but no aero changes will be permitted.
R-Motorsport team principal Dr. Florian Kamelger has confirmed that the team will seek permission from the DTM’s organising body the ITR, Audi and BMW to conduct one or two days of testing during the season.
The DTM season begins at Hockenheim on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May, with the Estoril test starting this Wednesday, 27th March.
