So I thought I’d have a little fun, and I’ve decided to compile my own little 2016 season preview (sort of) for Formula One. Now, obviously this will be fairly subjective, but I’m sure it represents something similar to a lot of peoples opinions (I hope so anyway). Oh and by the way, if you haven’t had a chance to check out my last post I’ve proposed some radical ideas which I think could make F1 more exciting, I’d be interested to hear your opinions!
Anyway, back to today, and what I thought I would do is score the teams out of ten for five different categories
- Drivers
- Engine
- Chassis
- Testing Form
- End of 2015 Form
and see how they compared to the pecking order which most people think will be established in Melbourne. I know there’s a fair few variations on this floating round the internet but I’m going to go with….
- Mercedes
- Ferrari
- Williams
- Red Bull
- Force India
- Toro Rosso
- McLaren
- Renault
- Sauber
- Haas
- Manor
So barring a couple of changes it’s largely represents the constructors championship towards the end of last season, which I suppose is a good a place as any when starting to think about 2016. So read on and see if you agree!
NB* Of course, my scores are purely subjective, but I do hope they represent something of the norm, I’d be interested to see what you think!

So, on the surface it looks quite similar to the one I predicted at the start of this post and I think the changes we do see in the table could well come true at the Australian Grand Prix. We’ll know much more on Friday but Toro Rosso could well be ahead of Red Bull, and if their testing form is anything to go by, Force India could be giving Williams a real challenge. Although I think Williams will probably still have the edge when all the cards are laid out on the table.
As we all eagerly countdown to the first Friday practice of the 2016 season I’d be interested to hear what you think might happen over the Australian GP weekend so feel free to pop your opinions in the comments below!
