As the sun set on the final Friday practice sessions of 2015, a familiar hierarchy fell into place up and down the paddock. Mercedes locked out the top two in both sessions once again, a long way clear of the rest of the field with Ferrari and Red Bull snapping at their heels. Daniel Ricciardo will have given Red Bull some hope finishing ahead of both Ferrari’s in FP2, as will have Sergio Perez who had slotted his Force India into third by the end of second practice. Congratulations also to McLaren, with whom Fernando Alonso managed to steer his car into 9th place in the second session, with sector three being key to a fast lap time here in Abu Dhabi, hopes will be high that at least one of Button or Alonso can make it into Q2 tomorrow. With Williams expected (as usual) to come good by Saturday’s all important qualifying session, we’ve taken the times from both FP1 and FP2, crunched the numbers and come up with our prediction for Saturday’s qualifying result. Have a look below and see if you agree.
We’ll be back tomorrow with our Saturday round up from the Yas Marina circuit.
